Sunny's Sparkling Blueberry Drink

Recipe Found Here

4 cups blueberries
2 Tablespoons lavender flower buds (substituted with mint leaves, add mint leaves to pitcher while cooling in fridge)
4 cups water
2 cups sugar
4 large lemons, juiced
4 cups soda water

Instructions In a medium sized pot, combine blueberries, lavender and 4 cups of water. Place on the stove on medium high heat and bring to a boil.

Once the mixture reaches a boil, turn down heat to low and let simmer for 25 minutes.

Add sugar and stir until it dissolves, then strain the syrup through a fine mesh sieve into a mason jar.

Squeeze the lemons and strain the juice and add it to the jar then refrigerate the syrup until it's cold. It's also a good idea to chill your soda water as well.

When ready to serve, place the syrup in a large pitcher and add 4 cups of carbonated water. Serve immediately over ice.

If desired, garnish with fresh lavender sprigs, a slice of lemon and fresh blueberries. Notes A single recipe makes 72 ounces or about 2 liters of soda.

Notes:
To make a single glass of soda, the ratio of blueberry syrup to water is 5 parts syrup to 4 parts soda water. For a 6 ounce portion, it's easiest to use metric, so the recipe would be 100ml syrup and 80ml soda water.

This beverage is quite rich and sweet so it doesn't lose it's punch when served over ice. If you'd like to serve it straight you may want to add additional soda water.

Make it ahead! The syrup can be refrigerated up to 3 days or frozen up to a month.

1 cup fresh cranberries
1/3 cup water
1/2 cup granulated sugar
4 cups apple cider (see note), chilled
2 cups ginger ale, chilled
2 Tablespoons fresh lemon juice
2 cups 100% cranberry juice, chilled
Crushed ice

In a small saucepan, combine the cranberries and water and simmer for 2-3 minutes until the cranberries pop and split. Remove from the heat and stir in the sugar. Let cool to room temperature (or chill in the refrigerator).

In a 2-quart pitcher, pour in the cranberry mixture. Add the apple cider, ginger ale, lemon juice and cranberry juice. Mix. Serve in cups with crushed ice.

Make ahead of time: combine everything but the ginger ale in the pitcher and refrigerate for several hours. Add the chilled ginger ale when ready to serve.

Best served in a punch bowl. The cranberries clogged my beverage dispenser.

Lava Flow Drink

Sunny A.

Recipe Found Here

3 1/2 cups pineapple juice
2 cans (15-ounces each) cream of coconut (like Coco Lopez brand)
1 cup half-and-half, fat-free or regular 24 ounces frozen strawberries in syrup, slightly thawed until slushy in texture
Ice
Fresh pineapple for garnish, if desired

In a blender, puree the slightly thawed strawberries with 1/2 cup water. The mixture should be syrupy and thick. Transfer to a liquid measure, bowl or pitcher and set aside.

In a pitcher, whisk together the pineapple juice, cream of coconut and half-and-half.

In a blender (washed from pureeing the strawberries), fill up halfway with ice. Pour in the coconut/pineapple mixture until it comes up to an even height with the ice. Blend until slushy (add more coconut/pineapple mixture if it is too thick to blend easily).

Pour about an inch of the strawberry syrup mixture into a cup. Pour the icy coconut/pineapple mixture into the center of the strawberry mixture in the cup until the cup is filled. If desired, gently swirl the mixture with a straw. Garnish with fresh pineapple, if desired, and serve immediately.

Melanie's Punch

Note: Fresca contains aspartame. Orangina would be a good substitute for the Fresca if that is a concern.

Fresca Soda (64oz for 1 bottle)
Apple Raspberry Juicy Juice (34oz for 1 bottle)

1 whole bottle of Fresca, to 1 bottle of juice. Mix and serve! The proportions end up being 1/3 juice to 2/3 soda.

***Stan's Hot Cocoa***

Jenn H.

3/4 cup (6oz) Evaporated Milk
2 1/2 cups Milk
3 Tablespoons Cocoa Powder, *Dutch Process Cocoa Powder
1/2 cup Sugar
1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
2 Tablespoons Butter

In a cocoa motion (or hot chocolate maker) - add the evaporated milk, then add the milk (2 %  is great, but skim milk also will taste wonderful and have less fat). Add in cocoa, sugar, vanilla and butter.

If using cinnamon creamer - you may want to add 1/2 - 1 tsp cinnamon powder as it is
a weaker creamer. (optional creamers: hazlenut, mint, french vanilla)

(4-6 servings)

*I purchase my dutch cocoa online from Penzeys Spices:
